I WAS very pleased to read the Walcot councillor's remarks as regards the football ground.
Yes, it should have been relocated to Shaw, but we all know the council threw up their hands in surrender to the pro-forest brigade.
People in the centre of town seem to be forgotten, the extra traffic over the years, with the extra pollution involved, and other factors have made living in the area very bad.
If the football team gets higher status, and I hope they do, the traffic position would be intolerable.
Football brings money to a town, visitors etc, so should be encouraged.
People living out in the leafy suburbs forget they have taken our beauty spots over the years. They forget that most of the older folk who built this town live in the central area.
Even a judge said he would not like to live in the Manchester Road/Broad Street area.
I think any improvements must be in the central area from now on but, as most of our MPs and councillors live in the better areas, I cannot see it happening.
