Re: "County Ground wrong place for a new football stadium" (EA, October 26).
I see that Coun Mavis Childs (Labour, Walcot) says "People say it could stay where it is but Walcot has had to put up with that for years.
"It has gradually got worse and worse and worse. When there is a match on you wouldn't be able to get an ambulance or a fire engine down there."
In the 40s and 50s STFC averaged 18,000 spectators a match and on occasions 22,000 to 23,000. They now average 6,000 - 7,000 so I fail to see how things have got worse and worse and worse.
May I suggest Coun Childs asks the borough surveyor to measure the width of the roads in Walcot, because it's obvious they are shrinking and will get worse and worse and worse.
