I SEE Coun Mavis Childs would like the football stadium moved somewhere else.
Does anyone give a thought for the children who live in the area?
I spent my childhood in Ponting Street and my friends and I had one place to play the County Ground. It was here my summer evenings were spent. We used the equipment in the playground. We played jungle in the bushes. Some of those pathways were old before we trod them, made by our fathers long ago.
There is nowhere else left for children in that area to play safely.
Always driven by profit, adults care nothing for their children's world. Just once it would be nice to see a different attitude shown by the people we elect into power.
It's bad enough to see greed winning the battle about the Coate Water development, without concreting over the only children's playground for miles.
Please stop this insane idea of turning green areas into bricks and mortar just for money. Once they are gone the are gone for good. I should know, I am a Swindonian with over 60 years experience.
