JAMES Constable came off the bench and within a minute struck the winner at Chesham to give Chippenham Town a 3-2 victory .
It maintained Chippenham's superb record on the road and was their ninth away Southern Premier Division League success of the season.
Bluebirds had to defend resolutely in the first half as Chesham dominated, and the visitors' first attempt on target came after 21 minutes when a Ben Kirk shot from the edge of the box was headed away.
Although on the back foot they took the lead on 39 minutes from a quick break.
Lee Davidson and Gary Thorne exchanged passes before the former found Scott Walker. He hit a low cross into the box and Dave Gilroy netted at the near post.
Chesham forced eight corners in the first 45 minutes and from the last, two minutes before half-time, Nathan Bowden-Hasse headed home.
The second half saw Chippenham continue to battle and on 57 minutes Walker fed Sam Allison with a long ball. He raced forward, drew the keeper, and then slotted the ball into the net.
Chesham came back to equalise 10 minutes later as John Lawford netted direct from a corner.
But then manager Steve White brought on striker Constable and within a minute he seized onto Ellis Willmott's through ball to grab Chippenham's third and winning goal.
"The players showed great commitment and desire to win the game, " said White.
"I had warned that they would be dangerous from set pieces. They put us under great pressure in the first half and gained a string of corners and scored from one of them. But we battled hard.".
Elsewhere, Cirencester secured a hard fought away point with a 0-0 draw at Rugby.
