A SWINDON store has beefed up security after a knifepoint raid left them shaken.
Defiant newsagent Tina Harfield, 55, sent the youth packing after whacking him with an axe handle.
Now her and husband Trevor, who owns the store in Grange Drive, Stratton, have spent around £100 on installing extra lighting
Trevor, 62, said: "We've added some lights to the front of the store. There's not much else you can do.
"But it helps to have some light there early in the mornings and late in the afternoons."
As well as November's drama, the unlucky couple's shop has twice been burgled.
Trevor said: "Last year when we had break-ins at the back of the shop we had to replace the windows and bar them all up.
"I knew they couldn't get in that way because the bars are reinforced and sunk into the wall.
"That was done earlier in June because we had had a couple of drug related burglaries."
Although the couple were shaken at the time Trevor says that they are almost over the experience.
He said: "We are a little bit apprehensive sometimes in the mornings but it's not too bad now."
