Jack Woodford and the Mayor of Salisbury. 6/1/5FORMER baker Jack "Woody" Woodford has celebrated his 100th birthday with a special visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Salisbury.
Jeremy and Sue Nettle paid a surprise visit to Bemerton Lodge on Wednesday last week and presented Mr Woodford with a framed print of the cathedral.
This took pride of place alongside his birthday card from the Queen.
Mr Woodford formerly lived in Whiteparish where his family ran the village bakery for many years and he was captain of the cricket team.
He also served in the army, travelling to France and Germany during the second world war.
Mr Woodford's wife died several years ago, but other family members made the journey to Salisbury from across the country to help celebrate his special day.
