GEORGE McDonic, chairman of the Wiltshire branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, was honoured with the MBE, in the New Year List.
Mr McDonic (77), who lives near Trowbridge and plays a major role each year in the Wiltshire Best Kept Village Competition, was honoured for his services to conservation.
He is a former county planning officer with Wiltshire county council.
