John Green, the chairman of Swindon's charity for disabled people, Working For Opportunities, has called for local businesses to adopt a new attitude to disabled people for the New Year.
Working For Opportunities works alongside companies in Swindon such as Zurich Financial Services and Nationwide to educate employers about the benefits of making the workplace more accessible to the disabled.
Mr Green said: "We offer disability awareness training to employers which is vital in this day and age.
"The Disability Discrimination Act came into effect in October last year and while some companies have made a great effort others need to do more."
