THE Swindon Children's Scrapstore has been awarded £500 by the council's Local Agenda 21 department to develop and publish a 56-page booklet.
The booklet about the history of the Scrapstore will describe the project and include profiles of the people involved to mark its 20th anniversary.
The aim is to contribute to local community history and, through sales of the booklet, promote awareness of the Scrapstore.
The booklet is currently in progress and will be available in June.
Swindon Children's Scrapstore collects unwanted items from local businesses and householders and re-distributes them to local community organisations.
The charity also offers volunteering and work experience opportunities for people who are normally disadvantaged in the workplace, such as those who have disabilities.
Project manager Olivia McCann said: "We are grateful to Local Agenda 21 for their grant, which means we can promote the Scrapstore and inform people of its history
"This has given a tremendous boost to the work we are doing at the Scrapstore and within the local community."
