DISTRICT council bosses are set to write off more than £67,000 in uncollected council tax because officers believe the debts are impossible to recover.
In a report to the North Wiltshire District Copuncil's executive committee tonight memebers will be told that 95 accounts, worth between £500 and up to £1,600 each and some dating back to 1995, have been listed.
Most are considered impossible to recover because the resident is now bankrupt or cannot be traced.
The report says the district council's collection rate remains high.
The arrears from the previous financial year were £2.2 million and the Recovery Team is reported to use all available means to maximise collection.
At the same meeting members will be asked to approve a write off of more than £24,000 on housing benefit repayments including one of £6,461.
The non-domestic rate write-off, collected on behalf of the Government, amounts to nearly £63,000.
Most of the debtor businesses are now bankrupt or in liquidation.
Coun Toby Sturgis, Conservative leader at the district council, said officers do a good job collecting outstanding debts.
"I think this sends out a message that we do not miss many," he said.
