HOT-SHOT winger Scott Walker believes a late decision made him miss his penalty against Tiverton on New Years Day.
Walker, 24, saw his side-footed penalty saved by Tiverton keeper Mark Ovendale and blames his decision making.
He said: "I always smash my penalties and for some reason I changed my mind at the last minute and side-footed it.
"I could not believe I missed it, I should have smashed it."
The game was tied at 0-0 and the 84th minute penalty would have given the Bluebirds their first win at home since September.
The missed kick left the midfielder depressed after the match.
"I did not want to talk to anyone. That was the first penalty I have missed since I was 14. I just sat at home on Saturday night.
"We should have won that game, we were more dominating than Tiverton were."
Walker, who coaches the Exeter City Youth side, admits the miss knocked his confidence but was pleased manager Steve White gave him some comforting words after the match.
"Chalky (White) told me that he missed a few penalties when he was a professional striker.
"Every player misses penalties, even world class footballers."
Chippenham's top scorer this season did not have much time to get over his disappointment as Chippenham travelled to Chesham on Monday.
"The next game came around quickly and my confidence was still knocked. I got over it quickly and had a steady game. I set up Gillys (David Gilroy) goal and had a hand in the second goal.
"You just have to move on and concentrate on the next game."
