ELLIS Wilmot is adopting a new approach to his game after returning to the starting line-up at Chesham. The midfield general had been on the sidelines for a month after losing his place to Town's teenage midfield stars.
But he was back on Monday, and set-up James Constable's winner with a delightful throughball from the centre of the park.
Wilmot said: "It was great to be back in the camp. I've been sat watching for a month, which has been frustrating, and so I wanted to grab my chance with both hands and do a bit.
"I'm pleased to be playing personally, but this team has a great desire to win. It was a great team effort today."
Wilmot dominated the midfield with some bone crunching tackles, a couple which attracted the attention of referee Mr Chris Williams.
"It's something that Chalky (Steve White) wants, something I haven't done enough of," added the schoolteacher.
"With the competition here I need to work it more into my game and hopefully I've shown that today. Passing the ball is my strength, now I'm trying to get the tackling part and be more aggressive."
Wilmot was full of praise for teenagers Lee Davidson and Ben Kirk, who have more than filled his boots during his absence.
He formed a three-man central midfield partnership with the young guns on Monday after the boss opted to switch from his favoured 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 formation.
"The young lads have come in and shown they can do it without me. I'd like to think I was an extra voice in there and helped them through. But they are good, honest lads and they don't need me telling them what to do."
White was clearly delighted with his return, and said after the game that he did exceptionally well.
The manager added: "He's got quite a demanding job with his teaching and we're aware of that, but he was outstanding today.
"He got seven or eight great tackles in and his delivery was good. He was really up for a good performance."
