GOALS keep coming for hot-shots Calne as they propelled themselves to second in the league on Bank Holiday Monday.
They are just three points behind leaders Radstock, who sent out a catch us if you can message with fine 3-1 away victory at Shrewton Town earlier in the day.
Midfield dynamo Kevin Banks got 2005 off to an explosive start with a thundering 35 yard strike and a pin point free kick that gave Calne a 2-0 lead.
Sloppy defending allowed striker Wayne Pearce to get one back before the break.
Their goal was nothing more than a consolation as goals from division one top scorer Glenn Armstrong, midfielder Robbie Lardner and substitute Ben Highmore gave the hosts another high scoring victory.
Calne manager Kelvin Highmore asked his players to improve after a disappointing draw against neighbours Biddestone last week.
He said: "I was extremely disappointed with the Biddestone game and I asked the players to respond to that performance.
"I think they did that, in the second half they showed a great desire and they have their appetite back.
"It was a superb performance, if we want to win the league we have to win all our home games."
The boss was particularly pleased with Banks. "He upset me against Biddestone as he pulled out at the last minute, today I told him he owed me a big performance.
"He ran the show and scored two great goals, he has lots of ability."
Highmore thought his side showed quality in depth as they easily coped with the loss of influential centre back Darren Smart, who will be out of action for a month with a groin injury.
He also expected a closer game against a side that have won six of their last seven away matches.
The home side looked in a different league than their hosts as they dominated right from the whistle.
Striker Matt Pratley should have given Calne the lead after just six minutes when he connected with a low Danny Jones cross, but his shot from eight yards went narrowly over.
Calne's first goal of the year came in the ninth minute when Banks picked up a loose ball and unleashed a thunderous shot from 35 yards out that screamed past visiting keeper Scott Kendall.
The hero became the villain just after as Banks flew into a challenge with midfielder Danny Little and received a yellow card.
Almondsbury hardly troubled the home defence as the title chasers took full charge of the game.
The lead was almost doubled when a 25-yard drive from Armstrong was tipped over the bar by Kendall.
As Calne pushed up the field on 38 minutes, defender Alex Stocker pushed striker Pratley and conceded a free kick in a dangerous position. Banks stepped up and calmly curled the ball into the top corner, giving Kendall no chance.
The two-goal lead stood for less than a minute as Almondsbury scored from the kick off.
The ball was played up to the box, which created a goalmouth scramble that resulted in Pearce stabbing in from five yards much to the delight of the noisy Almondsbury fans.
After a half-time warning from Highmore Calne took seven minutes to restore the advantage when a floating cross from midfield general Ben Moore found Armstrong, who poked in his 17th goal of the campaign.
The Bremhill View side attacked relentlessly and made it four in the 63rd minute.
A long through ball from Banks went to the feet of winger James Lye, he was through and shot at the advancing keeper.
Kendall narrowed the angle quickly and saved with his feet but the ball ricocheted to Lardner who slotted in.
Calne were not finished and substitute Highmore, who came on for Pratley, went through on a one on one, stopped as the keeper fell at his feet and elegantly went round him to smash into an empty net.
A confident Highmore is now looking forward to the clash against fellow title hopefuls Willand Rovers on Saturday.
He said: "It will be a very close game and we are all looking forward to it."
