GREEN-MINDED residents in Kennet will be able to take their cards and Christmas trees for recycling. Branches of W H Smith and Tesco will take cards and the proceeds will go to the Woodland Trust.

Kennet District Council has arranged collection points for cards at the Marlborough local information point, Tidworth post office, Voluntary Action Kennet's offices in River Street, Pewsey, Broad Hinton village stores, Burbage post office, Woodborough Garden Centre, Holy Trinity Primary School in Great Cheverell, and Bentley House, Easton Royal.

Christmas cards should not be put in recycling boxes or paper banks.

Christmas trees can be taken to the household recycling centres at Hopton Industrial Estate in Devizes or Everleigh, south of Pewsey.

Up until Monday there will be a fenced compound in the George Lane car park in Marlborough where trees can be left.

They will be taken away and shredded for compost.

In last week's Gazette incorrect refuse collections collection days for the week between Christmas and New Year were given.

Collections due on Monday and Tuesday December 27 and 28 were held over until this week and are a day later than normal.

There were, however, collections as usual on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

We apologise to those householders who were confused and may have either put out their rubbish on the wrong days or missed collections altogether.
