Julia Drown will be at Tesco tomorrow to promote the store's Christmas card recycling campaign.
The Labour MP for South Swindon will visit the Ocotal Way shop to support the environmentally friendly scheme.
Ms Drown said: "As a keen recycler I always try to recycle my Christmas cards and I'm glad that here in Swindon we have ways of making this easy thanks to places like Tesco having collection points.
"It's great that after all the cheer Christmas cards bring us we can continue to do good with them by recycling."
Store manager Adrian Hunt said: "The Christmas card recycling is extremely popular with our customers.
"We have a box at the front of the shop and we have to empty it about three times a day, it's absolutely incredible.
"It's great for the environment, our customers love it and we're glad Julia Drown is getting behind us."
John Short, director of Swindon Services, has also urged people not to throw Christmas cards away with other household rubbish.
He said: "More than a billion cards are sent by people in the UK over Christmas.
"We are asking people to post their cards in the special bins at the recycling centre at Waterside Park in Cheney Manor or at the special designed bins at WH Smith and Tesco."
