I ATTENDED the budget consultation meeting in the Civic Offices this week and what an extremely disappointing turn out it was.
I counted 17 members of the public, 12 councillors (11 Conservative, one Labour and no Liberal Democrat), two members of the press and one political assistant.
What do the people of this town want?
The opportunity to discuss matters was there.
The leader of the council and key members of the administration were there to listen to your views but where were you?
There is another consultation meeting arranged for January 10 so perhaps a few more council taxpayers will make an appearance and join the debate and express their views.
If the efficiency savings or cuts call them what you will are foisted upon you it will be too late then to have your say.
