I AM writing to let people know the magnificent results of our fundraising activities over the Christmas period and to thank them for their very generous and continued support.
Our toy fair in the Corn Exchange was packed with an unbelievable amount of items donated by the public and the gross takings on the day were £6,138. Thank you to those who generously donated goods for sale and to those who attended and purchased on the day.
The carol float with Santa toured the town for 14 evenings prior to Christmas and collections were held in The Brittox and at Morrison's supermarket. The total sum raised from these collections was £5,248 and our sincere thanks are due to all who contributed.
The total of the above is an incredible £11,386 which, after paying some relatively small expenses, would normally be used by us for local charitable purposes but in the light of the tragedy in Asia we shall be making a donation to the disaster fund and trust the public will support us in this.
Thanks again to everyone for their support and a happy new year from all the club.
