K R Manns is absolutely correct when he cites the brewery drays as a major cause of gridlock in Devizes. He is also right to point out that traffic is restricted by kerbside parking.
I feel that much more can be done to speed up the flow of traffic through the town.
On any normal working day in the town I find myself stuck behind the odd milk float, or buses which stop wherever they want.
Other delivery drivers clog up the roads too.
Then there are the mothers taking their offspring to school. We should not forget that everyone thinks it their right to drive to work, thus contributing to this chaos. Shopping trips add to this mayhem.
Ambulances, fire engines and police cars are everywhere.
Worst of all are all those people who drive through our town en route to other places who should be encouraged to detour via anywhere but Devizes. In fact you should all keep off the roads, so that I may have a smooth passage through the town whenever I choose to drive!
