HONDA'S Swindon-built diesel CR-Vs will soon contain an emergency fuel primer made by Remploy Automotive.

Running out of fuel is not only a hassle but also can be a major problem as it can mean air is drawn into the diesel's fuel line, preventing it from restarting.

The new fuel primer is a hand operated pump that vents the system and allows the car to be easily restarted.

The pumps will all be tested before being sent to Swindon for fitting.

The primers will be made in Remploy's factory in Bridgend, South Wales, where all but four of the workers are disabled.

Remploy is Britain's biggest provider of job opportunities for the disabled.

Honda has built the CR-V at Swindon since 2000 and it has become Britain's most popular petrol SUV. The 2.2 i-CTDi will be added to the range in March.
