PAUL Brickley believes the success of rival Wiltshire clubs is making his job of recruiting new players almost impossible.
The Westbury United manager reckons a bigger squad is imperative if his young side are to start climbing the Screwfix League Division One table, but admitted he is becoming increasingly frustrated.
With Corsham Town and Melksham Town enjoying a good run of form in the league above and Calne Town at the top of division one, Brickley feels his options are limited.
Ahead of tomorrow's match at Ilfracombe, he said: "It is hard at the moment. I have tried a few different paths, but the problem is the players don't want to come here.
"There is only Biddestone below us of the Wiltshire clubs in the Screwfix League and so obviously the players would prefer to go to the higher placed teams.
"Having said that we have got some very good players here and we have made some progress in the last couple of months so hopefully we can continue it.
"I hope we can consolidate this season as well as progress and hopefully move up the table and then I will be looking to add players to the squad for next season."
Brickley was appointed boss at Meadow Lane in November following the resignation of Derek Graham and since then he has led United to eight points in five league games.
He said: "I am delighted with the response of every player at the club and we are making progress.
"Ilfracombe will be a very tough game because although they are not that high up in the league, they are flying at the moment and are unbeaten in their last six.
"They have spent a lot of money in the last few weeks and signed some players from Premier Division clubs which seems to be making a big difference.
"I am looking forward to the new year because I have at last got the chance to manage a football club and the future is exciting."
Jerad O'Pray will miss the next few games with a back injury while Steve Seals is working in Ireland and Aaron Salter in suspended.
