74490-19A Swindon hairdresser is celebrating 30 years in the business by donating a day's takings to the tsunami appeal.

Deb Smith, owner of the Simply Red Hair Salon in Pinehurst, came up with idea after spending Boxing Day walking along a Cornish beach.

"I was walking near St Ives on the day of the tsunami. It was so beautiful there."

Deb, 46, has had her salon in Pinehurst for two years, and previously she owned Debbie's in Gorse Hill.

She said: "Over the last few weeks I decided I should celebrate being in the business for 30 years.

"We spent the Christmas break in Cornwall walking the beaches every morning.

"When the news hits us I thought how fortunate I am.

"So instead of having a party or a dinner out, I'm going to donate the day's takings to the disaster."

Deb's milestone arrives on Thursday and already she is fully booked.

But it is still possible to book up with one of her assistants for that day.

She said: "I have written a letter about it, which I'm handing out to clients every day.

"Everybody is saying it is a lovely idea. They are all saying they will pop in on that day.

"I said they should feel free to come in and have a coffee with us and make a small donation.

"But the main thing is that the takings will go for the disaster."
