Julian WarrWAKE OF THE TSUNAMI: VODAFONE worker Julian Warr had his flowing locks shaved off to raise money for victims of the Asian tsunami.
Julian, 34, of Gorse Hill, collected £400 from colleagues at the Swindon plant after making the pledge.
He said: "I had three friends out there who were going to spend New Year's Eve in Phuket in Thailand.
"I had to wait a couple of days before I heard anything but fortunately they were all OK. They were very lucky.
"But after seeing the state of the devastation on the news I wanted to do something to help."
Julian, who has been growing his hair for four years, had it cut to a short back and sides at Chartz Hairdressers in Cricklade Road, Gorse Hill.
He said: "It's a bit cold out so I think I'll have to buy a hat."
Julian also praised the generosity of fellow staff at Vodafone, in Newbury.
He said: "I knew they were a generous bunch but they've been fantastic. Within about half an hour, 15 people had come up and pledged money and more followed.
"People have been putting in £20 notes. I really appreciate all their support."
