75532-13SHINING stars in local music will come together to raise notes for survivors of the tsunami disaster.
The Evening Advertiser has teamed up with some of the best-known names in town to organise a charity gig on Friday.
The venue will be the Goddard Arms Hotel in Old Town and everyone involved is doing it for free.
Music fans wanting in on this music extravaganza had better be quick, however tickets are in short supply.
All proceeds will go to the Disaster Emergency Committee fund which will use it to help rebuild destroyed communities.
Advertiser editor Mark Waldron urges the town to show it cares by backing the event, which kicks off at 7.30pm.
He said: "For the last two weeks we have reported on the fantastic efforts so many of our readers are putting in to help ease the suffering of those caught up in this tragedy.
"We thought it was only right that the Adver should do its own bit for those in desperate need.
"We know that many people have already generously donated money and time to help the victims.
"But we hope our Tsunami Aid event will be able to raise a little more money while giving people a unique chance to enjoy some of the best sounds from in and around Swindon."
People's favourite, Roly Gillard a member of the Monster Raving Loony Party will front the event.
One of the bands playing is Mister Love and Justice. Guitarist, Steve Cox said: "We feel honoured to have been asked to perform in this gig. We are 100 per cent behind it.
"This disaster is the worst in my memory. But the one good thing that's come from it is that it's brought people a lot closer together."
Swindon singer and songwriter Rob Beckinsale, who has had hits in the Italian charts, will also be performing and has lent us a PA system.
Meanwhile, local celebrities, Billie Piper and Melinda Messenger have also risen to the occasion and donated raffle prizes.
Tickets are priced £6 on the door or £5 in advance. They can be bought from: the Evening Advertiser offices in Victoria Road. Tickets are limited and are on a first come first served basis.
