CHIPPENHAM Town Ladies Under 14s got the New Year off to a flyer with a 6-3 win at home to Keynsham Ladies.
Hannah Way was the star, scoring four goals to kill off the threat from their rivals.
But playing in very windy conditions, it was the visitors Keynsham who started the game the brighter of the two teams.
And Keynsham took the lead early on with a well created goal.
Way levelled the score for Chippenham after receiving a lovely through ball from Emily Tudgay.
Chippenham's defenders Georgette Lake and Charlotte Fisher had to dig deep to defend their goal against some creative attacking play from Keynsham.
Chppenham's counter-play was good with Hollie Morgan increasingly involved in the midfield.
And Chippenham went in front at half-time after a quickly-taken corner by Way which found Louise Edney to slot home her first goal of the game.
Chippenham scored soon after the restart with a well constructed move.
Tudgay provided Louise Edney with the pass that allowed her to lob the goalkeeper for a 3-1 lead.
Way then won a crucial tackle in midfield and was rewarded with a clear run on the Keynsham goal.
And she made no mistake scoring her second goal with a well-drilled low shot.
Keynsham persevered and were awarded a free-kick just inside the Chippenham half.
The resulting kick found a well-placed Keynsham player who was free to tap in their second goal.
That fired Keynsham up and they made the score 4-3 after a goalmouth scramble.
Chippenham goalkeeper Laura Griffiths was put to the test several times and was forced to make several crucial saves.
Gemma Patchett and Hollie Thomson also stood firm in the Chippenham defence to prevent Keynsham from levelling matters.
Some end-to-end play then followed and it was Way who broke down the centre before delivering Chippenham's crucial fifth goal.
Chippenham's sixth and final goal came with Way again receiving the ball in the midfield.
With two Keynsham players bearing down on her, Way did well to slide home her fourth goal and seal the game and points for Chippenham.
