A SUPERB 25-yard goal in the last minute from Danny Curran brought leaders Drayton a deserved 2-1 victory over Division One title rivals Faringdon Town.

Previously unbeaten Faringdon started the better, with Tom Stone hitting a volley against the far post in the 16th minute.

However, Curran put the home side ahead 10 minutes later when he flicked a half-hit Greg Lester shot past Mike Kelly in the Faringdon goal.

Adam Godwin and Lester tried their luck from distance as the game evened out, but Faringdon again struck the post through Robert Owen before the break.

Curran headed a good chance straight at Kelly and Godwin headed narrowly wide as Faringdon's defence were caught napping early in the second half.

The Faringdon equaliser came midway through the half, when Lee Moss battled hard to work a position on the edge of the box and Matthew Pill hammered the loose ball home.

Faringdon were pushing forward in search of a winner when Curran ran from the halfway line and thumped his shot over the despairing Kelly.

A goal in each half gave Saxton Rovers a 2-0 home win over Sutton Courtenay and propelled them into second place, while Marcham and Blewbury stayed on the fringe as they fought out a 2-2 draw. Will Westall and Dave Carter were on target for Marcham with Danny Hickman and Bryn Ingram netting for Blewbury.

Grove Rangers were hit by three first half goals from Mike Little, Jason Manton and Danny Cox-Rodgers for Long Wittenham Athletic. Stuart Eadie pulled a goal back, but the visitors held on.

Division Two leaders Steventon were stunned when Max Kelly put basement team Stanford-in-the-Vale ahead with a fine goal and the home side held on for only their second point of the season in a 1-1 draw.

Second-placed Coleshill United beat local rivals Buckland 7-3, with Shane Blake hitting four, Danny Ward two and Martin Francis scoring for the visitors. David Lewis and Michael Bowl (2) kept the Buckland cause going.

Two goals from evergreen Jeff Crame and others from Tom Weeks, Chris Hogan and Dave Curtis saw Ardington Reserves maintain their leadership of Division Four with a 5-0 win over Hanney United.

Uffington United remain unbeaten after a 3-2 victory over Coleshill United Reserves, thanks to goals from Gary Haines, Mike Dolan and Dave Roberts.

In Division Five, top of the table Steventon Reserves met lowly Uffington Reserves for the second time in three games and the result, amazingly, was the same 3-3 score-line. Shane Preece-Tripp, Kevin Allen and James Cairns scored for Steventon with Guy Pounds getting all three for the visitors.
