Friends of a former Swindon soldier have given money in his memory instead of flowers at his funeral.
The late Ted Hazell, 86, who lived in Ferndale Road, was an ex-Royal Engineer who served in Burma.
He was also a member of the Swindon and District branch of the Burma Star Association.
Branch secretary Wally Footner said that more than £100 was donated by Ted's friends in his memory.
"We would like to thank people for their kind donations and the money will go to the branch's special welfare fund," he said.
