I WOULD like to be considered for an honour as it seems the powers that be are getting short of applicants.
My reasons are that during the summer of 1944 I was in 371 Coy (CMT) stationed in Notting Hill Gate, London, and our platoon was ordered to place sandbags round the ATS billets and the American ambassador's house. This was rather hard work for nothing as both places had near hits by flying bombs soon after. The sandbags seem to attract flying bombs somehow.
My point is, as we squaddies contributed to the special relationship Tony says we have with the USA should we not be considered? By the way the ATS gave us cups of tea, the USA ambassador nothing.
