FOR a team hovering three places and four points above the Southern League drop zone, Swindon Supermarine have a surprisingly good record on the road, writes CRAIG LYUS.

Mark Collier's men have not been beaten away from home since a 2-0 defeat to high-flying Yate at the end of September.

They hope to extend that impressive record at Ashfield in Division One West this evening.

Marine will have to do so without striker Dave Toomey who has defected to Fairford.

He made the move with Collier's blessing after a frustrating campaign at Hunts Copse.

"Dave's a proven goalscorer but it didn't work out for him this season," said the Marine boss.

"I like him and he goes with our best wishes but he hasn't scored many this season so him leaving shouldn't have a great impact.

"Mark Draycott has settled in well now but we will need to get someone else in to support him up front."

The new recruit could be an unnamed Western League striker for whom Collier has submitted seven days notice of approach.

He won't be on board in time for this evening's trip, so recent signing Adie Adams will offer support from midfield for lone front man Draycott.

Collier is set to name an unchanged side following the unfortunate 2-1 home loss to Brackley.

TOOMEY'S new club Fairford were 2-1 winners at Bicester in the Hellenic Premier last night, although the forward did tnot get on the scoresheet. Lee Clark opened the scoring on 35 minutes and Lee Stoddart made sure of the points just after the hour mark.
