MAJOR events are to be held in the Cotswold Water Park this month which will allow people to get closer to many of the birds that spend winter on the park's many lakes.
On Saturday a special RSPB roadshow will be paying a visit for the first time. Children between the ages of five and 12 years will be able to take part in an afternoon of fun, songs, games and competitions all based on the theme of waterbirds that are to be found on the local lakes.
The event will take place at the Gateway Centre on the Spine Road just off the A419. Also this Saturday and Sunday and the following weekend, the public will be given the chance to see many of the park's wintering ducks when the private hides on the Lower Mill Estate will be opened up.
The RSPB, Cotswold Water Park Society and Lower Mill Estate staff will be on site to help identify the wildfowl and answer questions about them.
Full details and times of the events can be obtained by contacting Jill Bewley, the water park's events officer, or Gareth Harris, on 01285 861459.
