ON-LOAN striker David Gilroy has vowed to help Chippenham push for promotion after committing himself to a third month at Hardenhuish.
The forward, who has scored six goals in his two month spell, was delighted to stay for another month.
He said: "Steve White made it clear he wanted me to stay, I was more than happy to accept."
Gilroy, 22, was not getting regular football at Weston super Mare and is happy he is playing again.
"It's great to be on the field regularly and to be scoring goals again. I have really enjoyed my time here," he said.
"We are winning games and the spirit at the club is fantastic and I feel settled here. I'm glad I can stay here and keep playing every Saturday.
"The other lads have been very welcoming, it has been good to play with them."
The striker feels Chippenham are in a good position to win the league and gain promotion to the Conference South.
"We are going well at the moment and are only a point below Merthyr Tydfil. We have had two great results recently against Chesham and Hemel and if we get a win against Dunstable we could go top of the league.
"My aim is to help Chippenham stay up there and fight for promotion. I think we have a great chance and are waiting for Merthyr to slip up."
After his third month of the loan deal, Gilroy hopes to sign a permanent contract with Chippenham.
"I would like to stay here for at least the rest of the season but who knows what will happen.
"If Weston want me back I will have to go but I am happy here. It will be a shame if I have to leave after scoring all these goals and helping Chippenham stay at the top."
Gilroy is thrilled to be part of a winning team and says his new partnership with striker Sam Allison has helped him return to form.
"Sam and I are doing well together. We are both quick and know that we will be on the end of each others through balls.
"It is flattering to know I am keeping strikers such as James Constable and Martin Paul out of the side.
"It is good to have competition for places in the side. That's why Steve brought me in and it seems to be working well. I know if I stop scoring one of them will come in and do it for me."
