Malmesbury Town Council has voted to bring back a weekend market on a trial basis. It will be held on Saturday twice a month at the Market Cross and begin this Easter.
After four months the market will be reviewed, and a decision will be made whether to continue with it.
The announcement was made after a proposal from mayor Patrick Goldstone at the town council meeting on Tuesday.
There will be approximately 15 stalls and the trading hours will be from 9am to 3pm with traders' vehicles to be parked out of town.
A town hall group will now investigate the logistics of a trial six-month market and Coun John Lawton has agreed to deal with trader management and the market's administration.
To ensure the market is smoothly implemented, Coun Goldstone will liaise with Malmesbury Chamber of Commerce and seek its support.
