BOTH sides took it in turns to pile on the pressure but neither attack could break the deadlock.

This home encounter against Swindon Ladies was Chippenham's first game following the Christmas and New Year break.

For Chippenham Sabina Falcone and Ali Trigg made some fine penetrating moves into the Swindon half in the first period but they couldn't convert them.

In the second half, it was the turn of the visitors, Swindon, to pile on the pressure. Chippenham however, were up for the challenge and some match saving defensive play from Tracey Doughty and Sharon Holloway kept Swindon at bay, preventing them from scoring.

SHARON Flint was in the right place at the right time to grab the only goal of the game.

She was perfectly placed near the post to steer home a first half Sharon Gale shot. The visitors had begun the stronger but the Chippenham defence stood up to the constant Jaspers attacks, with goalkeeper Ali Sabiston producing some great saves.

Jaspers continued their control over the match for the majority of the first half but it was only due to some great defending from Jane Smedley that kept the score line at 0-0.

Chippenham finally began to start playing and with one of their attacks on the Jaspers goal, they went ahead.

After the break Jaspers were again on the attack with most of the play being centred in the Chippenham half of the pitch.

Chippenham's defence and midfield worked hard to keep the slender 1-0 lead and held on to win the match and take the points.

CHIPPENHAM were quick to take possession of the ball from the start of this match and dominated the game for the first 15 minutes.

Jaspers then had a break and went through the Chippenham defence and played a quick ball round the Chippenham goalkeeper to score.

Chippenham regained control, creating chances, but could not convert them into goals. Jaspers broke away again, were awarded a short corner, which was converted and doubled their lead. Ann Tweedle pulled a goal back in the second half but Chippenham could not find an equaliser.
