CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE: CHAMPIONS Sherston produced the results of the day after Andy Wick's four-minute hat-trick rescued three points in a 13-goal thriller at All Cannings.
Sherston had raced into a 3-0 lead within ten minutes with John Wilkins, Andy Wicks and Gavin Thompson scoring.
Nick Oram pulled one back for Cannings before Anthony Vizard made the half time score 4-1. Cannings, who haven't won a home game since December 2003, staged a remarkable comeback as a hat-trick from Steve Bush, one of which came from the penalty spot, and a solo effort from Lee Saunders somehow put the villagers 5-4 to the good with 13 minutes remaining.
Cannings looked on course for their first win in ten outings but Sherston, in need of the points, hit back and levelled through Vizard's second of the game.
But Wick's hat-trick swung the game in Sherston's favour and saw them claim a remarkable 8-5 triumph.
Leaders West Lavington Sunday produced a great result at home to Maud Heath Sports to maintain their slender three point lead at the top.
Despite Robbie Fry giving Maud Heath the lead Lavington hit back to claim a 5-2 victory. Darren Thorpe (2), Andy Davies (2) and Simon Drewitt shared the goals.
Dean Slade hit Maud Heath's second goal from the penalty spot when he tied the scores at two apiece before they slipped to defeat.
Box Rovers remain in the hunt for the title after securing a 2-0 win away to Hullavington. Jason Walsh scored both goals.
After a promising start to the season Bradford News have slipped down the table. They were dealt a further blow when they lost 5-1 at rivals Dog & Fox Ashley, who gained sweet revenge for their 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture.
Mark Gerrish opened the scoring for the Dog in the 13th minute and Steve Wickings made it 2-0 on 23 minutes. A brilliant individual effort from Gerrish made it 3-0 before Charlie Powell's long range effort cannoned off the bar and hit the Dog's keeper Craig Guthrie on the head before dropping over the line. News, despite many chances to score, were unable to find a way back into the game and 15 minutes from time Paul Gerrish ran 30 yards to score his first goal for the Dog. The scoring was completed by Wickings who bagged his second of the game in the 85th minute.
Trowbridge Harriers drew 1-1 at home to Westbury Rangers. Ben Tilling gave Harriers the lead which was cancelled out by Alex Lutskes.
division one
CALNE Sunday led Semington Rovers 2-1 at the break, but with the wind in their favour Rovers hit back to win 5-3.
Ian Gould's first half double cancelled out Dave Castle's opener for Semington but further goals from Castle, two from Stuart Donahoe and a rare headed effort from Stuart Barber saw Rovers home despite Luke De-Bouar grabbing a third for Calne.
Colerne trounced North Bradley 9-1 as the Division One leaders were no match for the bottom of the table Bradley side.
Charlie Spirrall and Jamie Bowler both hit trebles for Colerne. Steve Tarren added two and Frazier Glendinning completed the rout with Martin Belbin hitting Bradley's consolation.
Wingfield held out against Corsham Centre for 60 minutes and even with 15 minutes remaining they were just a goal down before the Centre finally found their scoring boots against a tiring Wingfield side. Simon Gray (3), Liam Ralph (2) and Craig Gingell shared the goals in a 6-0 victory.
North Star A claimed their fourth successive win after seeing off the Horse and Groom. Victor Long gave the Star the lead before Pete Thornton's double made the game safe.
Atworth played the first half against Winsley with ten men despite having two substitutes. Atworth were waiting for a number of players to turn up at Freshford but the players had got lost.
Atworth, who were trailing 2-0 at the break, found themselves back up to full strength for the second half but things went from bad to worse as Winsley hit four more goals. Nick Ridout (2), Mike Little, Chris Birlesson, Carl Harfield and Luke Harfield were on target.
It normally takes Chippenham Police until the end of the season to register double points for the season but this term's improving performances has seen them achieve the feat before the halfway stage. Having already beaten Chippenham Sports & Social Club 2-1 earlier in the season, the Police fancied their chances of claiming another win over their rivals and they took the game to their opponents with Tim Culling heading home a Gordy Hardie corner to put them 1-0 up.
The Sports levelled before the break through Shane Bell. With the wind picking up Police took advantage and forced several corners. One of these resulted in Julian Kirby somehow finding the net with a cheeky backheel that not only surprised the keeper Jones, but also himself. Police held on and move further away from the drop zone.
DIVISION TWO
POTTERNE FC were just too good for Corsham Park Rangers when they won 8-1.
Potterne took the lead in the seventh minute after good work by Jamie Bayes whose cross found Peter Huntley. He calmly slotted home from six yards.
Minutes later Potterne were two up through Ben Giles who was on hand to score after a defensive mix up. Johnny Emm made it 3-0 from a penalty on 15 minutes and then added number four when he converted from a 30 yard free kick in the 32nd minute.
Corsham started the second half well and were unlucky not to pull one back in the 47th minute when Gordon Willshire's shot was well saved but it wasn't long before Emm scored Potterne's fifth from a 20 yard free kick. Emm then scored the goal of the game after 60 minutes when he picked the ball up wide on the right hand side and fired a 30 yard unstoppable shot past the keeper. Bayes made it seven after beating two defenders and hammering home from 18 yards.
Potterne were awarded their second penalty when Emm was pulled down, and Darren Folkard stepped up to score his first goal for Potterne. Rangers scored a consolation goal in the 86th minute after a good passing move was converted by Willshire.
Christian Malford's 3-0 victory at home to Sutton Benger was achieved without Scott Evans getting on the scoresheet. It was left to Richard Bruce, who scored two against his former club, and Gary Blackwood to stretch Malford's unbeaten run to nine games.
Blue Circle (Sunday) played the final 20 minutes of their game with King Alfred with only nine players, an injury to Daryl Maxwell left him with a broken wrist.
By this stage of the game King Alfred were 2-1 up thanks to goals from Martin Clarke and Nick Still which sandwiched Luke Smith's goal for the cement boys.
Steeple Ashton (Sunday) beat The Crown Devizes 2-0 thanks to a brace from Lee Hayward. Things may have turned out different had Ashton's keeper Nathan Holloway not saved Tim Wootton's penalty and The Crown not been denied by the woodwork on a number of occasions.
Parsons Nose led AC Soho 2-0 and then 3-2 before Soho hit a late goal to claim a 3-3 draw. Wayne Bailey and Mark James (penalty) had scored to put Parsons two up.
Marcus Young and Tyrone Prades hit back for Soho to tie the game at two each only for Danny Reeves to put Parsons Nose 3-2 in front in the 80th minute. Mark Baldwin came to Soho's rescue with the all important equaliser two minutes from time.
division three
THIRD Division leaders Kings Arms (Trowbridge) dominated their game with Bradstone Rovers as they ran out easy 7-0 victors
Pete Spong (3) and Scott Askew (4) grabbed the goals.
FC Bradford slipped from second to fourth place as wins for both Sir Audley's Arms and Pig & Whistle United saw them move up the table thanks to Bradford's inactivity. Pig & Whistle United were made to work hard for their 2-0 win over Trowbridge Town Supporters Club. Mark Bridger and then Wesley Frith pounced on mistakes to hit the goals that took United into third place.
Sir Audley's Arms progression to second spot was achieved with a 7-1 victory over Old Road Tavern who were made to pay for scoring first via Gavin Aplin. Steve Mallard led the scoring for the Arms with four, Nick Gapper, Luke Gullick and an Andy Crayford own goal made up the Arms' seven.
Virgin Mobile and White Horse FC drew 1-1. Ian Standing put Virgin ahead but Gary Perrett headed the Horse level.
COOPER Avon, after 11 games of trying, claimed their first win of the season courtesy of their 2-1 victory away to The Crown.
Andy Morrison put Cooper ahead and Marcus Underwood doubled the lead before Robert Mitchell hit a consolation for the Crown.
Leaders AFC Calne suffered a huge upset against an in-form Rowde Dynamos, whose 5-1 win stretched their unbeaten record to seven matches.
After a goalless first 45 minutes their was no sign of what the second half was about to produce and even when Jamie Mullens crashed home a beauty from 25 yards Rowde themselves couldn't have expected what was going to happen.
Roger Wiltshire doubled Rowde's advantage but Simon Dance pulled one back for Calne. Rowde went at Calne with all guns blazing and Richard Hayter restored their two goal cushion before Mullens bagged his second of the game. He then set up Martin Robinson for Rowde's fifth.
Bar OC dominated the game against AFC Springfield. Despite sterling performances from Springfield's goalkeeper James Davies and centre half James Cooke, four from Danny Powell, a brace from Andrew Webster, and a goal from Rob Drown saw them stay on the tails of AFC Calne with a 7-1 win, Matt Oliver replied for Springfield.
Plough fought back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to grab a 3-3 draw with KSM.
Dom Riccio and Ben Husband put KSM 2-0 up. Dave Thomas and Colin Brady restored parity for the Plough only for Husband to regain the lead for KSM with three minutes left. Sam dawson helped home Julian Davison's rasping drive to make it 3-3.
AFC Pilot extended their unbeaten run to six games following their 1-1 draw away at Pack Horse Rangers.
Simon Wheeler headed home Nigel Hall's corner to put Pilot in front but Ranger's drew level when captain Justin Darby volleyed home just before the half time whistle.
Wanderers dealt Fascia Graphics' promotion hopes a severe blow after they beat them 2-1 . Domonic Shepherd scored from a penalty, Andy Palmer levelled for Graphics but Wanderers got their winner when Dave Comley made it 2-1.
CORSHAM Cricket Club are flying the league's flag with a 3-1 defeat of Swindon League side Prince of Wales. Dave Kilmurray, Simon Bray (pen) and Chris Jones got the goals.
