This was not perhaps the best start for Chippenham in the New Year but nevertheless, the game started well for the home side.
Sherborne were the first to put points on the board with a fine breakaway converted try.
Chippenham however, replied almost immediately with their own converted try courtesy of Neil Jenkins and team skipper, Jake Emery.
Just before the half-time whistle, Chippenham produced a textbook move with the forwards winning the ball, then going from scrum-half to fly-half and then along to winger Josh Hann who went over in the corner after a great 30 metre run.
From the restart, Chippenham played into the wind and although the game continued with some good passing and excellent rucks and mauls, it was the poor tackling from Chippenham that gave Sherborne the edge.
This paid off for the visitors who ran in four more converted tries in the half.
