GAZETTE & HERALD: AN EXTENSION to a house in Carnarvon Close, Chippenham would "completely overshadow" neighbouring properties, North Wiltshire district councillors said.
They unanimously rejected the plans for a first floor extension over an existing garage and a part two storey and part single storey extension to the rear of the property.
Councillor Judy Rooke said it would have a detrimental effect on nearby homes. She said: "The two storey extension would completely overshadow both properties either side. It is overbearing by virtue of its size and bulk."
Councillor Dick Barton agreed, saying houses close by were already "fairly dim and north facing". He said there were no similar developments in Carnarvon Close.
