GAZETTE & HERALD: Work is underway at Chippenham's Olympiad Leisure Centre to transform the former caf into a new fitness suite with views over Monkton Park and the River Avon.
North Wiltshire District Council has ploughed £150,000 into the new suite, which will work alongside a programme of new classes and activities for children so the whole family can build on their health and fitness.
Mike Parlour, chief executive of North Wiltshire Leisure Ltd, which operates the Olympiad on behalf of the council, said: "This will be one of the best fitness suites in the south west."
He is keen to stress it is the experience that will be different because the room is large, airy and full of natural light with lovely views.
Customers using the old fitness suite on the lower floor had complained the room was stuffy and claustrophobic.
New activities for youngsters will include Aerojam street dancing and the Amazing World of Fit Club.
A new food and drink outlet is being set up in the foyer offering healthy food options such as baked potatoes and paninis as well as snacks and sandwiches.
