30072/1Dedicated fundraising bore fruit this week when Basil the minibus joined the ranks at Westbury Junior School.
The new arrival took the school's fleet to three vehicles and with elderly Bessie on her last legs, Basil is expected to bear the brunt of pupils' future needs.
Money from fairs and a fireworks night all went into the pot and the school raised £4,000 to buy Basil.
The new minibus will be used for trips, camps and sports matches.
Children and teachers went to school dressed in football shirts for FA Cup Day and raised more than £450 for the tsunami appeal. The day saw an inter-staff football match end in a 2-1 win for Platt's Panthers over Dardecker's Demons as well as football-themed lessons.
The children decided it was more important the money went to the tsunami appeal rather than to school funds.
