THOUSANDS of pupils will be asked how they travelled to school on Monday in a countywide survey.
Results from The Great School Travel Tally will be analysed by the county council to help schools reduce the number of children travelling by car.
This is the third year the council has run the survey. In 2004, 34,100 children from 170 schools took part.
Cabinet member for transport, Cllr Fleur de Rhe-Philipe, said: "This initiative is part of a Government drive to cut down on the amount of cars travelling to and from schools.
"It will also help our children have a more active and healthy lifestyle. We are hoping that this year's scheme will be even more successful than last year's."
Fifty eight Wiltshire schools have plans to cut car use and encourage alternatives such as cycling and walking.
