A CHARITY from Wiltshire is aiming to raise £10,000 to reward 400 young carers with a range of activity days.
Youth Action Wiltshire provides what it calls 'time out' breaks through its Young Carers scheme and is hoping to raise the money by February through a national raffle.
The charity, from Devizes, decided on the scheme to recognise the importance of the work carried out by voluntary carers who look after a family member.
Days away from the home will include ice-skating, bowling, horse riding and canoeing as well as one-to-one mentoring for pupils who miss homework as a result of their care duties.
Co-ordinator Victoria Clare said they were targeting carers between the ages of five and 25.
Among raffle prizes are a week in the south of France, a holiday in Cornwall and a case of champagne.
