INTRUDERS told an elderly woman there was a fire above her flat before stealing jewellery and cash from her home.
The two men are thought to have entered the flat in a Warminster sheltered housing complex by a bedroom window at 5pm on Monday.
Once inside the flat in The Close they warned the woman about the 'fire', and asked where she kept her jewellery.
PC Simon Childe, of Warminster police, said: "They then entered a second floor flat via an internal door. They were disturbed whilst searching and left via a fire exit."
The pair stole £80 cash and a £300 gold ring from the first flat and a £3 carpetbag, £5 purse, £20 cash and £5 make-up compact from the second.
They are both described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, with black hair and wearing black clothing.
Anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in the area late on Monday afternoon is asked to contact Warminster police on (01985) 847000.
