30077/2TSUNAMI AID: A WOMAN from Holt raised more than £1,000 by organising a buffet lunch for her neighbours.
Jilly Heath opened up her house in The Gravel for the event to raise money for the tsunami victims.
She said: "The concept was using up all the odds and sods from Christmas that people had left over."
Over 70 villagers donated their leftover Christmas food then paid £10 to come along to the gathering.
"We just sat down one morning about three or four days after the incident and phoned people to ask if they would like to come.
"I had a fantastic response. We could have had twice as many but did not have room in our house."
The event raised a total of £1,200, including several donations that were made on top of the £10 requested to take part.
