16413/5FOUR teenagers have appeared in court in connection with a street assault that left a Trowbridge man fighting for his life.

Asa Freeman, 32, of Church Walk, is still in a critical condition in intensive care at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, after suffering life-threatening head injuries on Saturday night.

Former Clarendon College pupils Paolo Rossi, 19, Lee Frisby, Shane Flexon and Joel Bailey, all 18, appeared before magistrates in Chippenham on Wednesday.

All four are charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and affray and Rossi, of Newtown, and Flexon, of College Road, have also been charged with actual bodily harm on Mr Freeman's friend, Jason Delaney.

Frisby, of Regents Place, works with his father as a self employed painter and decorator. Bailey, of Shrewton Close, is a student.

The four were released on bail to unconfirmed addresses to appear at Swindon Crown Court on Monday.

Rossi, Frisby and Bailey were barred from entering Trowbridge, except to keep appointments with their solicitors and Flexon was told not to enter the town centre except to report to the police station.

All of the men are banned from contacting each other or any of the witnesses in the case and a curfew was imposed between the hours of 9pm and 5am.

They were also told to stay away from any licensed premises, particularly pubs and clubs.

Four other men were arrested in connnection with the incident on Saturday night but were released without charge.

Police appeal to Wiltshire Times to help trace witnesses

POLICE have released CCTV footage from Trowbridge Snooker Club showing potential witnesses to the attack on Asa Freeman.

Officers believe clubbers, including a group of three girls, going through the doors of the Silver Street club between 11.50pm and midnight on Saturday may be able to help piece together events leading up to the assault.

Police do not believe people pictured were involved in the incident but say they could hold vital information.
