NEW powers to deal with abandoned cars, fly-tipping, fly-posting and litter must be implemented quickly, says North Swindon MP Michael Wills.
Mr Wills called for the powers in the New Environmental Bill to be agreed and implemented as soon as possible.
"Graffiti, fly-posting and general litter are a menace that can make people think no-one cares about their neighbourhood," he said.
"The Government has responded to calls from local agencies for better powers and these new measures have been developed in response.
"The new measures include powers to remove abandoned cars from the streets immediately before they become eyesores, powers to gate nuisance alleyways that attract anti-social behaviour, powers to deal with fly-tipping, fly-posting and litter and measures to help local authorities deal with noise from burglar alarms and pubs.
"I will be working hard to make sure these measures are agreed quickly so that the police, council and other local groups can get on with making north Swindon a safer, cleaner place to live."
