Jayne ByfieldGET FIT FOR 05: JAYNE Byfield is determined to get back in the swim in more ways than one. Jayne, 41, wants to pluck up the courage to wear a swimming costume again and she's also hoping for some romance.
These are her biggest goals as one of the Evening Advertiser's Get Fit For 05 campaign.
She said: "I'm feeling really positive and should feel more confident about wearing a cosie very soon.
"When I'm happier with my figure, I will start thinking about dating."
Jayne and the 11 other Fit For 05 volunteers are being spurred on by life coach Shauna Wheeldon.
Shauna, 37, from Cricklade, will be helping the candidates achieve their aims and overcome any setbacks.
She said: "Jayne is very positive and focused. I advised her to keep a diary of her goals, so she can monitor her progress."
Jayne, who is 5ft 8 and weighs 18st 7lb, aims to lose six stone in the process of getting fit this year.
She said: "I'm keeping a diary and have also started a scrap book with pictures of me and other people who have successfully lost weight.
"These will be good incentives for me to keep going."
To meet her targets, Jayne has started taking regular exercise and reduced her fat intake. She said: "I've been to the gym and am walking into Chiseldon most days, which is a three-mile round trip. I feel great for it."
All 12 members have been given 12 months free gym membership from the Living Well gym, at the Hilton Hotel, in West Swindon.
Instead of snacking on crisps and chocolate, Jayne is eating more fruit.
She has also cut down on drinking tea and coffee.
"I have about six glasses of water a day now and have stacks more energy," she said.
But Jayne is still having occasional treats to keep her spirits high.
She said: "I had a bar of chocolate the other day. With all this extra exercise, I deserved it."
Shauna is also keen for the Fit For 05 volunteers to find a healthy balance.
She said: "It's not all about losing weight or becoming a fitness fanatic.
"So I will be encouraging them to find a happy medium, balancing getting fit with their families, friends and careers."
After their initial life coaching session, Shauna will be contacting the candidates on a fortnightly basis to offer advice and support.
She said: "They are a brilliant bunch and I have every confidence that they will reach their goals.
It's really exciting."
