AN ELDERLY woman was left with a bruised face and cuts to her hands after being attacked in Liden.
Her attacker had attempted to snatch the woman's handbag.
Although she didn't need hospital treatment, the pensioner who is in her 70s was extremely shaken up by her ordeal.
The incident happened after the women left Tesco at the Liden Centre at 5pm on Monday.
She left the centre via the walkway which runs towards Fairlawn.
The victim became aware of a young woman following her and was attacked in an alleyway leading off Fairlawn.
After snatching her handbag, the attacker is believed to have headed back to Tesco.
DC Graham McDonald, of Swindon CID, said: "If anyone saw the woman in Tesco, or has any knowledge about this, they should contact us.
"The information could be crucial."
