GAZETTE & HERALD: POLICE have warned homeowners to be on their guard after a spate of 17 burglaries in the Hungerdown Lane area since the beginning of December.
Acting inspector Matt Armstrong said the thefts had all taken place between noon and 8pm.
He said entry had been gained through insecure properties or by smashing windows and doors.
Property taken includes computers, DVDs, cash, purses, mobile phones and even a can of lager.
Act Insp Armstrong appealed for public help in tracing the offenders and reminded people to make sure their homes were secure and to keep valuables out of sight.
He asked anyone with information to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
