ANDY KING has rubbished suggestions that Sam Parkin is bound for Premiership strugglers Fulham in a half-a-million pound move.

Chris Coleman was among the spectators at the County Ground on Saturday but the Town boss insists it is another case of people putting two and two together and coming up with five.

Parkin himself is aware of the rumour, admits it is flattering but isn't about to let it distract him from the business of scoring goals for Swindon Town.

Once Coleman was spotted, the rumour mill went into overdrive and seemingly peaked yesterday with a frenzy of speculation that Coleman was finalising a £500,000 deal for Town's number nine.

King did not want to dwell on the matter but said all the chatter was wide of the mark.

He said: "He (Coleman) wasn't there to watch Parkin."

It isn't the first time the club's leading scorer has been linked with a bigger club and it probably won't be the last.

He has become a veteran in the diplomatic 'flattering but I'm happy here' line during the past 18 months.

Fulham join a long list of clubs Parkin has been linked to, including Cardiff City, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Leeds United, although the Cottagers are the first top flight club to feature.

Only Hull City have actually made a formal offer though, a £250,000 bid which was flatly rejected by Town in the summer.

Parkin said: "You do hear things but I would be surprised if anything came of it.

"I am still hoping to score the goals which will help Swindon Town to the play-offs."
