STRIKER James Constable hopes he has given manager Steve White some food for thought after grabbing a goal in his first start for a month.
The joy at making the point against Cirencester on Tuesday night was doubled by the fact it was against his old club.
The forward headed a fourth minute goal in Chippenham's 2-1 Southern League Cup win against the club he spent three years at.
Constable, 20, has not started for Chippenham since mid-December and was pleased he came back into the starting line up with a goal.
He said: "It was good to score against Ciren. I have not scored in a while, the goal gave me a bit of confidence."
The hitman was pleased that manager Steve White started him in his favoured striker position.
"I have been coming on recently and playing on the right wing. I'm a striker and put on the pitch to score goals. I can't do that as well if I'm on the wing."
Cirencester captain Gary Wootton is an old friend of Constable and was marking him for the majority of the game. "He was marking me when I scored my goal. I was moving around the box when the corner was coming in and I lost Gary and had a free header.
"I gave him a bit of stick for that in the bar."
Manager Steve White has favoured loan signing David Gilroy and Sam Allison up front and that has left the man known as Beano without valuable match practice.
"I did get a little tired towards the end, my legs were slightly heavy. But you have to keep pushing until the final whistle blows."
Now Constable hopes to get back into the starting line-up. "I have to keep working hard and score goals when I come on."
