USERs will continue to be able to book Malmesbury Town Hall until the end of September .
The district council wants to sell the hall which needs £770,000 of work to comply with disability legislation.
But the town council, which manages the building on behalf of the district, wants to renovate the building.
The district has now renewed the management agreement with the town council for six months from April this year.
But Mayor Patrick Goldstone said town councillors needed a one year agreement to manage the building effectively.
He proposed that if the district council did not extend the agreement, the town council should stop managing the building at the end of September.
He said that a one-year agreement was essential to allow councillors to formulate next year's budget.
At present town councillors cannot set a budget because of the uncertainty of the building's future. It is hoped to resolve the situation at the policy and resources committee on January 27.
