Sherston villagers are being asked to vote in a mini-referendum on whether to retain or remove a traffic-calming scheme.
County councillor John Thomson launched the consultation exercise after he received a petition from more than 100 people asking for the scheme to be removed.
The scheme was originally installed to secure a safe walkway to Sherston Primary School.
But since the school has moved to a new site on Knockdown Road, Coun Thomson felt this was an opportunity to hear residents' views.
He said: "It is like a mini-referendum. I hope people will get out and vote because it is no good moaning you are never consulted when you are given a chance.
"You have to go and register your vote. An exercise like this is a way of communicating with people.
"With this kind of consultation, you have to go out listen to people and be prepared to change your ideas."
People can vote at the village post office, in the village hall or post their ballot slip to the county council.
Voting ends on February 1.
